Blog Assignment #4

I really enjoyed the collaboration assignment we did this week. It really made our whole class see, and feel how it was like to be in a journalist team. I was the editor, and at first I thought it was going to be the easiest assignment, however, I was wrong. You were forced to make a lot of decisions, and organize many other people.
My group did really well because they all chose topics they were extremely interested in.  I think that if we were to actually write the stories it would make a very well made newspaper. We had sports, band, drama, clubs like saad, and chorus. I liked how everyone participated extremely well together, and we got things done.
I did not really hate anything, however, it was frustrating when I had to decide which story for each person to do, and why. People were also interested in more than one thing, so it was a little confusing because I didn't want to limit anyone on what they were able to write either.
I'm not sure what I would change. I liked doing a school newspaper, but I am also very interested on national news. So, maybe the next time I do this I will find topics on natio0nal news instead of topics on our school.

Blog Assignment #3

For this blog assignment I looked at newspapers, online radio's, and online websites to compare how the different journalist talk or write about what is going on in the sports world. First, I went on NYtimes.com and looked at their sports section. I noticed that they do not only talk about the sports games that happened the night before, but they talk about former athletes and their life. They cover everything about sports, the coaches, the locations and not only a scoreboard and the players.
I then checked out 98.5's online website. The hosts on this radio station mostly make jokes about the games the previous nights, and give their opinion. Conversation between two people on the radio about sports usually ends up in a mild argument. These "journalists" not only give the scores of the games, but their opinions on how the game went.
Lastly for a broadcasting course i chose to go on Espn's website. Espn's obviously the largest network that covers aspects of the sports. It gives opinions, it gives scores, locations, ideas, everything. It gives schedules, times, and more. I chose the website for my sourse, however, they are widely  knows for their television show.

The journalist I am most interested in.

Jera researched Rosie O'Donnell for the journalist she was most interested in. Personally, I have been a fan of Rosie for a very long time. I always remember her laughing which makes me want to listen to what she has to say. She has been through many hard personal experiences, for example, her mother died when she was only eleven year old.
Rosie started her career in 1984 on VH1 for about four years. Every year she had more and more fans, and talked about more and more stories. Everyone knew her name by the 90's. I think because she is so funny, and she see's each situation  in a very different light then anyone else does. She began hosting her own talk show once she realized people were just waiting to see more of her. She is  currently unemployed.
Janet Cooke is a great person not to be. She was under extreme pressure in her job, so the way she made it all go away was to make up a fake story. We all know you can not get away with that for very long an she was fired. Even though journalists are under pressure all the time, I would never make up a fake story. I would not want to be that type of person. I want to only find the truth, and not disappoint my fans.

My expectations for this new blog assignment is to let people know about my life, and what I like to do on my free time. I love to get my opinions out there on recent events, and everyday things. This site will help people to see another side of everyday life. My unifying theme is "My Life". This theme was inspired by many articles i have read during my freshman year. Different people have so many different ways of expressing their views on life, and i want to be one of those people.
